Numbering of measures
Not really a question, just an observation.
I was handed some scores on the weekend, to go over for a proposed concert.
On one song, each measure was numbered, but on the intro, the numbers went 1, 2, 3, 4, 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, 5.
Bit of a suprise to see the measures numbers in such a way.

Perhaps from incidental music in a Harry Potter film as the students disembark at Platform 9 3/4?.
Could you attach a bit of the score? I'm just curious to see why they might do that.

The piece is from the musical Barnum, I Like Your Style, while Barnum is arguing with his wife.
The bars in question are played under dialogue between Barnum and Chairy during the introdiction to the song.

Here, I'm guessing this was originally written out with a repeat around the first four bars for an open vamp, then they changed their mind and wrote it out, but didn't want to change the measure numbers later in the piece, maybe because some parts had already gone out.
I am pretty sure I have also occasionally seen voltas numbered this way, FWIW.
