Dragging number onto another in tablature

• Nov 4, 2013 - 00:18

1. Open attached score (produced in 1.3).

2. Click on stave.

3. 'Copy'.

4. 'Instruments…'.

5. Add 'Electric Guitar'.

6. Change 'Staff type' to 'Tab. 6-str full'.

7. 'OK'.

8. Click on tablature stave.

9. 'Paste'.
10. Drag a grace note onto the other.

Result: The number is placed behind the existing one.

Discussion: I'm not sure if something should be disallowed, but some of the results seem strange - dragging a number away again will produce another number. Step 10 becomes more apparent if there is a single digit and double digit (e.g. 9 and 12). It also seems applicable to normal tablature.

Using MuseScore 2.0 Nightly Build (8a6c228) - Mac 10.7.5.

Comments

Should be fixed by pull request https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/530 just merged.

Fixed in the sense that, by dragging fret marks (aka notes) around, the chord would be re-fretted, which may result in other notes being moved of string. Also, not any dragging is possible; for instance, dragging a note to a string below should be always possible, but dragging to a string above is only possible if the string can produce that note AND is empty. This for the way the fretting algorithm works, from topmost note to bottom (to ensure the (almost) best possible fretting). So, in some case, a longer route is needed (first free the string below by moving the other note and them move the note above).

However, it should give a sensible result (if any is possible; otherwise it would do nothing).

Thanks,

M.
