Next Release
When is the next stable release?
I've gotten a comment several times on bug reports where the developer suggest: Don't use the nightly builds except for testing. However, if I try to use version 1.3, I find a very different an primitive environment. 1.3 is not pleasant to use after having used 2.0, and it very limited.
What's the plan?
Who decides when the next release will be?

It might help if you described the limitations that concern you with 1.3. While it's true there are some great new features in 2.0 that can be hard to give up, it's quite possible to learn to work around these limitations. About the only thing you really just can't do in 1.3 is tablature & fret diagrams.
Probably best to start new threads for each topic - "what's the best way to deal with X in 1.3", explaining what 2.0 feature you miss, what you've tried, etc.

Everyone once in a while, I experiment with working around this in 1.3 by changing my page size in layout / page settings. I select a height just large enough for one system, and set the biggest width MuseScore will accept. It works well enough that I certainly wouldn't risk using an experimental development build for any important work just on this account.

yes, ive tried that.
Its counter productive when you have to keep changing from creating (i preffer continuous view) to editing for publishing (page view).
But thats just a personal preference. Anyway, i use the nightly version often and its beautiful.. cant wait for the next stable release
What's the plan?
The plan is to make the nightlies more stable. There are still a lot of bugs to fix before a stable release. See this list and that one. When these lists are smaller, one or more beta will be released.
Who decides when the next release will be?
The ones who fix the bugs or are involved in the community. Last word to Werner the lead developer.
