Beam problem

• Feb 24, 2014 - 16:09

In the attached example I have been trying to create a beam between the final two notes, but when I do instead of creating the beam MuseScore changes the final note from a semi-quaver to a crotchet.

MuseScore version 1.3 revision 5702
Windows 7 Home premium

Thanks.

I've been using MuseScore to re-create lost band parts from the full score, it's been very useful.
Thanks again.

Enter notes (Eight note)
Click on the first note;
Hold down Ctrl and click on the second;
Click on beam properties;
Click on the penult note;
Click on beam properties;
I hope the image is understandable.

P.S.
if I insert ex novo (Vista/1.3) works fine, perhaps a measure written and erased multiple times?

You present two notes with one intervening rest - you wish to beam all together:

1. Click on the first note head (the C on beat #4), then double click on the 'Start beam' icon in the Beam Properties palette. (It will appear that nothing happens.)
2. Next, click on the semiquaver (sixteenth) rest, then double click on the 'Middle of beam' icon.

Regards.

Following the instruction of the video exactly, does as wanted.
Input notes first and then marking the rest and doubleclick the beam property produces the behavier described in the starting chaper of this thread by Stephen_Muse.
Sometimes the duratuion of the first note ist changed, in other cases the last Note is changed.
I added an example bar.

...which is the first bar of your attachment - it has a 2/4 time signature. Do this:
1. Click on the first eighth rest in the 2/4 measure.
2. Double click 'middle of beam' in the 'Beam Properties' palette. (Don't worry about note duration changing on beat #1.)
3. Click on the eighth note C on beat #2.
4. Double click 'middle of beam' in the 'Beam Properties' palette.

See attachment, which shows both bars of your 'musescore_beam_problem2.mscz' with various notations.

Regards.
