I'm having trouble getting my keyboard connected to my computer. The usb light is slow flashing and the midi in light is on solid but there's no light on the midi out. I am wanting to notate in realtime.

I don't know anything about the lights on your keyboard, so maybe ignore them for now and just test to see if it actually works. That is, read the Handbook about note input and see if you can input a single note (eg, enter note input mode, then press and release a key on your keyboard to see if it enters the note). If not, close and restart MuseScore - you need to start it after connecting and turning on the keyboard. If that doesn't get you going, try entering a note normally (eg, pressing "C" on your computer keyboard) and then playing on note on your MIDI keybaord to see if maybe it tries adding it to the existing C. If so, it means MuseScore is receiving the "note on" message but not the "note off". For some reason systems / some models of keyboard have this problem, no seems to understand why.
