Way to keep clefs, time and key signatures from taking space?
Is there a way to add clefs, time and key signatures to a piece, but keep them from taking any space in the measure? If I hide them, they still take up space. I want the first note in my first measure to be near the left margin. I can only get it so far over there using the Inspector.
I'm trying to line the first note of the first measure up with the first notes of the measures on the subsequent systems. This is for a beginning piece in which the staff, clefs and time/key signatures have not yet been introduced.

Add those to each line and make them invisible. Make the Key C (no sharps or flats) and it won't take up any space. Doing this will line up all of the first notes.

Ah, key of C...that's a good idea. Mine was in G-flat but it actually doesn't have to be to do what I want to do. Thanks!

Kind of an odd request, as note position on the staff is what indicates pitch.
What about barlines?

It seems odd, but this is for a beginner book and the staff isn't introduced until the following unit. Barlines have been introduced though. In your attachment, I see you have a 1-line staff, but you didn't check "Invisible Staff." How did you manage to hide the single staff line?
It's a good trick to add a clef on EVERY staff...that way when they're hidden, the notes on each system will align.

How did you manage to hide the single staff line?
Right click the staff, click 'Staff Properties', and change 'Staff line color' to white (same color as background).
Or..... instead of selecting white, you can set the 'Alpha channel' to zero - so the line will appear transparent (useful for any color background).

Right click the staff, click Staff Properties, and uncheck the options to show these elements. The key signature is under "Advanced Style Properties".
If that doesn't help, please attach your score so we can understand and advise better.
