''Measure 78 Staff 2 incomplete. Expected: 7/4; Found: 16/8''

Hi I cant upload the MCZ file because I keep getting ''Measure 78 Staff 2 incomplete. Expected: 7/4; Found: 16/8''

I am doing this for a freind because she wants the MIDI file, therefore I need to upload the score first so I can download the MIDI file when I upload the score. However I am not very good with computers so how do I fix this exactly? its really confusing. We don't mind if the note or time is wrong, we can change that when we print out the sheets. I really appreciate the help :)

You can attach it to your post here if you can't fix it.

First, click ignore on the error box. To fix it, try selecting the entire measure 78 staff 2 and exchange voices 1 and 2 twice, then delete the rest from voice 2. The measure will no longer be corrupt and you will need to correct the rest that will be added. If selecting measure 78 leads to a crash, open it again and select measures 77-79 and do the voice exchange twice and delete the voice 2 rests from all 3 measures the fix measure 78

that is very confusing. I have fixed it however by deleting the whole bar but now I ma having another issue with another piece. I get this

Also when I upload the piece to the muscore editor and click 'Ignore' then save as. Then when I upload I still get the same errors :(

I will upload the piece here and I really appreciate it if you can help me out ;(

I saved the useful measures to a score since I can't delete the empty measures. I selected from the beginning to measure 97 and used file->Save Selection. The empty measures at the end cannot be removed. Clicking one causes a crash of MuseScore since it doesn't know what to do about them. Unfortunately Save Selection does not save the title info. I believe I fixed measure 24, you will have to double check it.

It seems this file was imported using the PDF import tool. Do you know if that is correct? In any case, it was done very poorly. Since PDF import is considered experimental that is not surprising.

Thank you! :)

What exactly did you do? I am confused how you fixed most of the errors so fast.

Also when I try uploading the new score you sent me I get 'Measure 24 Staff 1 incomplete. Expected: 2/2; Found: 248/256'' and when I try removing the staff it won't let me? I tried deleted the whole bar too and it is not working also. Do you know whats going on?
oh and yes the file is PDF. I attached.

I forgot to test it. I made the bad assumption that my fix for measure 24 would fix the error. Since MuseScore does not explicitly support 256th notes it will keep making the measure deficient.

What I did for most of it was to select measures 1 through 97 in both staves. Click measure 1 in staff one, then shift click measure 97 in staff 2. I then when to the file menu and selected Save Selection... This saved only the valid measures. I saved it in a new file, not the existing file since this is impossible. The problem with the score is that the PDF import tool misread many note lengths. Besides measure 24 being interpreted as having 256th notes rather than 8th notes, measure 21 has 16th notes rather than 8th notes on the second beat and 1/4 notes rather than 8th notes on the upbeat of 4. All the notes in the line above this are of the wrong length. There seems to be errors in almost every measure. The bottom line is that there is so many corrections needed it would be easier to manually enter the score from scratch. You should explain this to your friend because it will never export to midi properly without these corrections.

As I told you before, PDF import is experimental and very buggy. Anything it produces should be carefully checked for errors as in the case of this score. OMR (Optical Music Recognition) is a very primitive technology.

Jojo started it for you in another post. If you don't know how to use MuseScore I suggest watching this: https://musescore.org/en/tutorials start with #3 and read this: https://musescore.org/en/node/36126

There are links to most features you will need for entering the score. The only other thing I think you will need is https://musescore.org/en/node/36121#preset-palettes read about lines also so you can enter the pedal marks.

While I applaud you wanting to learn musescore; it is in no way necessary to upload a score just to get the MIDI export from it.
You can simply go to FileExport… and choose the MIDI format right there.
