Prima volta after Segno is being skipped

• Dec 16, 2017 - 19:29

I'm currently composing a piece which has a Segno part which is repeated via a D.S. al Coda, this part has a repeat, which plays two different end parts using Prima volta and Seconda volta lines.

When this part is repeated the Prima volta is ignored in the loop and MS skips right to the Seconda volta and then to the Coda, I'd instead want the Prima volta to be played, then the Seconda volta, and then jump to the Coda, is this possible?

The score in question is attached.

The Segno and Repeat in question start at Bar 14, the Prima volta is at Bar 20, the Repeat-end mark is at Bar 22 together with the Seconda volta.

TIA!

This is correct according to standard music notation - repeats are not normally taken on a DS unless there is an explicit indication to do so. You can add such an explicit indication by editing the DS text and the human musicians who eventually read you r score will do what you want, even if currently the built-in playback within MuseScore does not understand this yet.

In the case of repeats inside of a jump, if you need it to play correctly for rehearsal or something, then writing it out longhand is necessary. If visual for a musician to play is what you want, then staff text saying always take repeat or take repeat during D.S. also would be sufficient.
