D.S. al Fine does not play last bar during playback

• Dec 30, 2017 - 22:23

I'm having a bit of trouble with playback dropping the last bar of my piece.

I have several sections in my piece that repeat with a first and a second ending. Then at the end of my piece, it needs to loop back to the A section and play through to the first ending and then stop. I've added a Fine to the last bar of A (which also has the first ending bar on top of it) and I would expect it to play. However, playback stops just as the playback head enters the measure rather than at the end of it.

I've attached the file so you can take a look if you wish: 2017-12-19-Dark City Treno.mscz

Am I doing something wrong here, or is this a bug in Musescore? Should I be using D.S al Fine to get this effect?

The reason it ends where it does is because the first volta is never played on the D.S. repeat. Voltas are skip in the D.S. and D.C. section. This should be doable in version 3.0 but you will need to do a work around for version 2. Use a D.S. al coda and make a copy of the last measure so you can make that your coda and make the To coda the measure before the volta.
