Downloaded "Malaguena" from Musescore but pitches different
Hi all, sorry to raise another thing as I'm just a noob!
I downloaded "malaguena" from Musescore for guitar but the pitches seem piano-ish or something to me.
So I typed in the first bar into a separate score and displayed the XML for both.
Please see in uploads :
Malaguena score, then its XML, first note has pitch = 67.
Bar I typed in, then its XML, first note has pitch = 79.
But they both look the same - and correct - on the stave.
I need to (I think) add 12 semitones to pitches, but leave the notes where they are on the stave.
Any ideas please?

Upload the score or a link to it so I can look at it. The pictures are too obscure, but I have a theory I need to verify.

So, the .mscz and .xml are correct, as expected.
I guess you have wanted to change the clef (treble clef instead treble clef 8.vb, and then an octave higher, with Ctrl + Up) and it's the reason (you receive this: 1-Malaguena.mscz ), the sound/pictches seems "piano-ish" :)
You have nothing to change! The treble clef 8-vb is the suitable clef for the guitar, one of the two clefs anyway, and I still believe, the most widespread.
Now, if really preferred: after change the clef, go in Staff Properties, and transpose for 1 octave/down.
And you get: 2Malaguena.mscz

Looks like I'm confused :-)
Maybe the notes I typed in I'm typing onto the wrong sort of staff/stave for the guitar.
Looking at this link : https://musescore.org/en/plugin-development/note-pitch-values
where should I have middle c pitch 60 on the most frequently used guitar staff/stave please?

mike320, cadiz, aha! Yes there are several treble clefs to choose from when entering notes, and i have been using the ordinary treble clef instead of 8vb. Unknowingly of course, cos I have been actually playing the notes correctly for guitar but unknowingly inputting them at the wrong pitch.

hmm tried 8vd treble clef but still wrong, will try a piece from scratch with 8vb probably tomorrow now as it's 0117 am here!

getting tired but got it I believe, thanks to you guys' help.
Starting from a clean sheet and treble 8vb, looks consistent with the d/l malaguena when I type a few notes into a new score.
And the c in the third space from bottom of the staff is 60 which is middle c, QED!

Guitar sounds an octave lower than written. Middle "C" as sounding is the first fret of the "B" string on a 6-string guitar with standard tuning. It is notated on the third space of a treble clef if the instrument is set up as transposing, or the same space of the treble clef 8vb staff if the instrument is set up as not transposing. Middle C as written is right below the staff.

Hi Marc, thanks, yes I might understand this now. I did not use the sound playback so I did not know I was wrong.
BTW the reason I got into looking under the covers was because I was writing a plugin to show the notes in different colours depending on which string the beginners would play them in the first position. This seems ok now, still checking it.
