Will a Williams Legato Digital Piano work with Musescore?

• Jan 15, 2018 - 18:10

I am thinking of getting a Williams Legato Digital Piano but I want to know if it will work to input notes and such to the Musescore program. It does not have a MIDI input and output ports but does have a USB connection which "supports Class Compliant MIDI Drivers to use with MIDI Sequencer applications." If anyone has any input for me about if this digital piano would work for me or what I would get/do to solve the problem if it doesn't work, please let me know.

If it does MIDI - and what you quoted says it does - then it should work. But do be aware, MIDI input in MuseScore is still mostly a one-note-at-a-time affair, just like using the mouse or your computer keyboard. There is a limited real-time mode that can attempt to sort out rhythms, but if you were expecting to just play the piano "for real" and have it magically turned into readable notation, with MuseScore somehow figuring out which hand is playing which notes and how to handle places where multiple vocies are required, etc, that's not realistic.
