Impossible to leave edit mode in MuseScore 3.0-dev
There is a bug in the current development build of MuseScore that makes it impossible to leave edit mode when the element in question contains grips. Fortunately, there is an easy fix. I have included a patch.

Actually, I shouldn't say impossible, since pressing Esc takes you out of edit mode. But I think clicking the mouse away from the element should have the same effect.
