Writing scales - how to have no time signature, no barlines and even spacing

• Feb 4, 2018 - 16:22

Hi, I'd like to write some piano scales sheets for students of mine. I plan to write them in an order that is different from what I have in books or syllabi.

However, I would like to keep the presentation as standardized as possible, so am looking to use no time signature, a key signature, no barlines apart from a thin double one after the final note, and I'd like the notes grouped together in minim beats as 4 beamed quavers, with the final note being a crotchet.

I'd like to present them in 2 octaves on the grand staff.

Should this be possible and can I start without a time signature and barlines? I have tried removing a time signature OK and making barlines invisible via the inspector, although the spacing still shows as if there were bars, I don't know if it would print out like this?

Any help and suggestions gratefully received.

Thank you.

I'm trying to do the same thing. I opened the file to see what was done, selected what was there, and inserted my own notes. I still see rest(s) being added after the notes if using quarter notes; using whole notes it's fine.

Also, the menu order would be: Tools>Measure>Join Selected Measures

For some reason, I can't attach the screenshot on any of my browsers.
