What is a chord?

If you select a note in a score and tick "Small" in the Chord section of the Inspector, all of the notes in the same voice as the selected note are made small.

This implies that the definition of a MuseScore chord is: "all of the notes in a particular voice in a particular staff at a particular location."

But, pressing [Shift] then selecting a note, selects all notes at that location in all voices. And this, AFAIK, is also referred to as a chord.
So, the word "chord" can have different meanings in MuseScore depending on the context. Is this OK?

Well, in MuseScore a chord is "all of the notes in a particular voice in a particular staff at a particular location", even it that is just one note, a note in MuseScore is more like just the notehead. A chord in music sense however is more like "more than one note sounding at the same time"
Indeed, the word "chord" has multiple meanings, in MuseScore as well as in music in general. Might be unfortunate, but it's not something have control over.
