Procedure for using a tremolo to indicate a same note triplet

How do you use tremolo notation to indicate a same-note triplet while maintaining the figure 3 above the abbreviated quarter note? Also, would the procedure yield the three dotes above the tremolo note that indicate a triplet?

You need to turn a 1/4 note into a triplet, then change the note inside the triplet to a dotted 1/4 note and add the tremolo. If the tempo is slow you will need to add a single staccato mark and make it invisible so it will play correctly. If the tempo is fast, this will not be noticeable. The three dots are in the master palette (press Z to see it). Search for tremolo to find it easier. Drag it to the note, press ctrl+e to put the triple dot into edit mode and you can use arrows and ctrl+arrows to move it into position.

I expect most strings players to realize that the dotted 1/4 note with 3 dots above (or below) it will make them realize it is a triplet. It is a courtesy to keep the 3's visible in the first measure so the musicians will have no doubt that it is not a misprint. If you are scoring it yourself, you can use "simile" to prevent you from needing to put the 3 dots above it and you can make the 3 invisible.
