ADVICE ON IMPORTING MUSIC TO MUSESCORE

• Apr 30, 2018 - 22:41

I AM JUST LEARNING THIS SOFTWARE. I HAVE MY LAPTOP CONNECTED TO MY YAMAHA CLAVINOVA KEYBOARD. HOW DO I IMPORT INTO MUSESCORE?

Do you mean, you wish to play music on your keyboard and then have it notated? Do realize that this is very much an inexact science - trying to guess at rhythms, which hand is playing what, how to spell accidentals, etc. That said, I would try the following:

1) (easiest to enter initially, but will probably require the most work to fix up later): record your playing into a sequencer (perhaps a built-in on your keyboard) and save as a MIDI file, then open that MIDI file in MuseScore using File / Open

2) (hardest to enter initially, but requires the least work to fix up later): use the regular note input mode in MuseScore to enter notes one a time just as you would if you weren't using your Clavinova. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/note-input

3) (a compromise between the two): use the "Real-time (automatic)" input mode in MuseScore explained in https://musescore.org/en/handbook/note-input-modes#realtime-auto
