Split Measure

I open the piece, select the note, click edit -> measures, but only "Delete measures" shows as an option. Both Split and Join remain dark.

You are probably looking at a part or have a single complete measure selected. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/measure-operations#split-join

If this doesn't help, attach your score and explain what you want done.

Thank you for your reply. I had already read the entry in the handbook and followed the instructions there. I was editing the score, not a part, and I did select a single note. Member jeetee mentioned that the function didn't work if you had parts. So, I deleted the parts and was able to split the measure. I'll just have to recreate the parts when I'm finished with the rest of the piece.

Note that the split command is currently not available if your score has Parts.

Thank you for your reply. That was the problem entirely. I deleted the parts, and was able to split the measure. I had used the function in another piece, so I knew it could be done. It was driving me nuts.

I had this same problem too, thanks for the tip! Why can't we split measures in scores with parts though? Is there a reason it has to be this way or is it an unaddressed bug or issue?

It was possible in the beta versions before 2.0; but indeed brought a few bugs with it. The developers back then didn't have the time to fix them before the release came and decided to simply disallow that action "for the time being".

So far nobody has tried to re-enable it again and fix it up.
