Character Swap
Does anyone know of a way to swap between characters within MuseScore? I am trying to quickly change between certain chord symbols to see which I prefer and I find it quite tedious retyping a plethora of chords. Thank you.

Are you making them different keys or totally different chords? If it's different keys, the chords transpose with the rest of the music and the key signature can update as you transpose.

I meant changing between Cm7 and C-7 and Cmi7.

Sorry, that's not simple transposition. You have to manually change those.

I just realized that all of those are the same chord. Sorry, I was thinking major vs. minor, but they're all minor. I'm no expert on chords, as is obvious from my mistake. Perhaps someone like Marc S. has an idea. I have no doubt he'll answer when he comes back online.

No automatic way to do that currently. There is support for this internally, but what you'd have to do in terms of setting up the necessary config files isn't worth the effort. Instead, considering saving your score as MSCX, then using a text editor and doing search/replace there.

Thank you for your help. It's a very useful trick. Is there any way be more precise when searching for the chord name to replace a symbol? It seems like ("name") then the character I want to replace gets me the closest, but that can other items within that text file.

Well, you could include the tag as part of the search. Might need to do multiple searches if the character occurs in different contexts, but could be better than filtering out the false positives.
