QML plugins don't work in snap-installed 2.3.1

I installed MuseScore version 2.3.1 from snap package on my Mint 18.2. Previous versions ran the included plugins just fine but they no longer work.

When trying to activate plugins the following lines appear in .xsession-errors:
QQmlComponent: Component is not ready
creating component failed
line 1: module "QtQuick" is not installed

Everything else works fine. I tried to look for solutions and came across a couple such as setting environment variables so that Qt finds the plugins correctly but I thought snap should take care of these. Has anyone else had the same problem?
