File won't open

• Aug 19, 2018 - 20:47

I was working on an arrangement last night. I saved the file and put my computer into sleep and now it won't open today.

Can you attach the file? Could be it is just corrupt in a way that will allow it to open if you hit "ignore"; could be it is coorrupt in a way that can be fixed with a ZIP tool and text editor, could be the file somehow got completely obliterated (maybe the computer went to sleep in the middle of saving?) and you'll need to try to restore from backup as described in https://musescore.org/en/node/52116

As I said, please attach the file. And maybe explain in more detail what you mean about getting nothing - you had trouble finding out how to enable display of hidden files, or did that but had trouble finding the backup of this particular score, or found it but couldn't open it, etc?

The backup is created when you open the file, not when you save it. So if you never closed it then reopened it - you created it and did all your work in a single session - then indeed there would be no backup. Otherwise there would be, so keep looking - are you sure you successfully turned on display of hidden files? Do you see other backups in that folder? Do any appear if you open other scores?

Anyhow, yes I see your attached file but unfortunately it does indeed seem damaged beyond repair.
