Changing time signature adds measure. Why?

Hi,

I'm working on a piece with time signature changes (couple of 'half measures' of 6/8 in a 12/8 song). Every time I change the time signature to 6/8, it seems that an extra measure is added and (for example) chord symbols already added in measures behind it, shift two counts... It looks as if I can't add a 6/8 measure afterwards without wrecking my entire sheet.

Thanx for any advise on this one.

Extra measures are added because there is no check to see if there are notes in the measures. If they were full of notes, and extra measures were not added, then the notes would be lost.

The problem with the shift is that you did not put the time signature into the same measure again. You moved it one 2/4 measure toward the 2/4 time signature, so it give the appearance that everything had move when the only thing that moved was the time signature.
