Sigma won't reset voltas.
So I'm doing a piece, and I tried using D.S. to go back to a spot. After that spot are some sigmas. However, it jumps straight to the 2nd volta.

I don't see a D.S. in that image.
By convention, repeats are not taken after DS or DC.

Write it out if you want MIDI.
Add a text instruction if you want real musicians to play it. "Repeats good on DS".

Select the D.S. and then on Inspector enable "Play repeats"

(This "Play on repeats" is a relatively new feature which is why not everyone knows about it yet)

I am stubbornly "old school". :)
Actually, it's just that I am churning out work and am focused on that.
