Changing noteheads in percussion notation
Is there a way to change the type of notehead in percussion/drumset notation? I have a piece that involves a few tam-tam strokes, and no matter what I do, I can't change the note head type from the cross type (even when changing the type from whole to half, etc.)

The way to do this is to alter it in the drumset definition. See the Edit Drumet button in the drum palette, or right-click the staff and choose that option. See the Handbook under "Drum notation" for more info.
