Musescore unable to read my file.
Computer crashed while in musescore and when I opened it back up it never gave me an option to restore my last session. I opened what I believe to be the backup score, but it's a version of the work from weeks ago. Any ideas? Any chance I can restore this file? I saved the file a few minutes before the crash. Seems odd the crash would affect an already saved file.

Unfortunately your file is damaged beyond repair.
When you save a file, depending on how your OS and drives are set up, sometimes the info is merely "cached" and not written until later. Which is why a system crash can sometimes lose data. Anyhow, it seems odd that MuseScore would not have given you an option to restore your session, but see https://musescore.org/en/node/52116 for info on how to find your autosaved files.
