I just rescently downloaded the new update for musescore, and I was excited to see what was added and changed. I made a score, put in a few notes, and pressed the play option. It did not work at all, its not even attempting to play it. How do I get the score to play? I never had this problem in previous versions of the software.

What operating system? What does preferences > I/O looks like, what Soundfonts does the synthesizer list?
I have the same concern with v3.05.21343 with Mojave 10.14.3. Never an issue before. No sound on playback and no sound from keyboard controller (Akai LPK25). I can input the notes from the controller, but no sound in any register is heard.
Hi Mellophone222, is this immediately after startup? I do notice a similar issue occasionally, but only within 10-20 seconds after startup. I believe this is to do with a feature to improve the performance of startup times.

In Mac OS (10.4) is there a preferences file in Library that might be corrupt and can be discarded/rebuilt to allow for "normal" playback. I miss it so, seriously.
Gosh, I've been fussing all darn day. Zapped PRAM, restarted, reinstalled, and the solution was Preferences>I/O>Device:Built-In Output and all my playback and Akai LPK25 controller came back to functionality!!!
