Change note duration

• Jan 17, 2019 - 16:51

I can't figure out how to do something that (I believe) should be simple.
I have the following sequence:
sixteenth rest - dotted eights - sixteenth - eights - sixteenth
What I want:
dotted eights - sixteenth - dotted eights - sixteenth

I can't figure out how to efficiently do this. Yes, I can delete everything and re-enter it, but there should be an easier way, right?

Maybe not much easier in this particular short example, but you can improve on it a bit. Select the first three notes, cut, click the rest, paste, then click the third note, dot. This cut and paste technique becomes more and more value the more notes you've entered before catching your mistake.

In MuseScore 3 you could use the new timewise editing features. Try clicking the rest, Ctrl+Delete, then go to note input mode, move the cursor to the last note, then select dotted eighth duration, then Ctrl+Shift+notename (not sure what clef this is, somehow tenor seems most musically likely)
