How to set a default font size

I am currently trying to write in sticking notation for a drum part, and most of it seems to be going well. I did run into a problem however, when I tried to make the font smaller so that it fit under the staff better. As far as I can tell, the only way for me to change the font size is to go through each note and manually change it. Is there another way that will permanently set the font to the size I want, so I don't have to go back and change it later?
