Why don't dynamics have a "play" checkbox?

• Feb 13, 2019 - 20:30

I'm studying someone else's score, and the indicated dynamics are a nuisance (esp. "pp"!); I'd like to turn them all off, recoverably, without deleting them.

right click>select all similar elements;
Inspector, set velocity to eg. 50 should work.
right click>select all similar elements;
Inspector, set velocity to 0 to restore.

If you are 'studying' without 'listening' , then why would dynamics come into play at all?

Anyway, "possible modification" was not mentioned in your original post; but you can 'listen' to the score to 'study' it, make modification(s) and still undo the modifications.

'Undo' is simple enough to use. One can save the score with "good" modifications and continue working, with 'undo' still available for saved modifications as well as any future modifications.
When finished with all the modifications, and the score is saved and closed, it is then that the modifications can no longer be undone..

(Trying to understand an individual use case is not critique... we try to help.)
