staff merging?

Creating a multi-part staff is currently too work intensive to be practical. However, it is alright to make two different staves for FL I & II, as it is easy to copy paste to other staves. Do we have a way to merge staves like this? Auto assign staff 2 to voice 2, and maybe an ability to designate a passage as a2 and auto invis the second voice?

Yes, we can merge two (or more) staves into just one, but we HAVE to use "voices".

Let's say you have two staves: Staff 1, on the superior place, and Staff 2 below it.

1) You have to convert the voice 1 of the staff 1 into voice 2 ("Exchange Voices 1-2" menu option).

2) You have to select all the staff 2 and click on "copy" and/or "cut".

3) You have to paste it into the staff 1.

4) As you will have the voice 1 above the voice 2, you have to exchange it with the "Voices" menu (again).

5) If you just copied the voice of the staff 2, the you have to erase ot manually (or eliminate the full staff 2 in the "Instruments" menu).

In version 3, you can combine two instrument into one staff using Tools->Implode. In version 3, it will first put the two instruments into voices 1 & 2. You can select voices to be used for individual parts.

Unfortunately, you must manually make a2 sections and these do not easily get transferred to parts as Juan explained.
