Musescore 3 suddenly unable to open file

• Mar 2, 2019 - 06:38

A score I made is suddenly unable to be opened in musescore. No changes were made to the file extension and to my knowledge no patch had released. No sudden shutdown happened while working on the file.

I have tried using the backup .mscz, file but an unable to get that to work either, that includes both changing the file directory to a normal .mscz and the .mscz, backup file as is. I have attached a copy of the original here. I am using this for a project that is on a deadline and I don't want to rewrite the whole thing.

Unfortunately when I removed the training comma from this file the same problem occurred. Additionally the autosave folder in users/appdata appears to be mostly blank scores from when I first open the software. After browsing through everything in the autosave folder I could not find the score for this piece. I've attached the backup file here. as well as the file that was created after I removed the training comma from the extension name.

https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/file-formats#msczcomma

From that handbook reference:
"The backup file adds a period to the beginning of the file name (.) and a comma (,) to the end (e.g. if your normal file is called "untitled.mscz", the backup copy will be ".untitled.mscz,"), and the period and comma need to be removed from the name in order to open the backup file in MuseScore. As it is stored in the same folder as your normal MuseScore file, you may also need to give it a unique name (e.g. changing ".untitled.mscz," to "untitled-backup1.mscz")."

BTW: What did you mean when you first wrote...
...changing the file directory to a normal .mscz
What file directory?
Simply rename the individual backup file.
