Create a tie across barline
I need to create a tie across a barline. I need to create a tie to include the last 2 notes in measure 1 and the first note in measure 2. When I select the initial note in measure 1 then click the tie icon a tie is created under all the notes in measure 2 except the first note in measure 2.
I have the printed manual, plus access to the online manual. I'm not using the right words in the searches.

Can you upload a sample score and tell us which notes you want to tie. It would be easier. If English is not your first language, then you may not be aware that you use a slur to connect two notes of different pitch, not a tie. Ties are limited to notes of the same pitch.
If you have a chord, multiple notes in same voice at same beat, e.g. 3 quarters on the same stem, that you want to tie, on either side of the barline, select the left chord's stem, then hit +.
Ties never connect more than two notes. You probably really mean slur. These are in the Lines palette.
I did the ties one at a time, and that worked. I’ll go through the slur steps. I have forgotten basic notation rules or guidelines so it’s time for a refresher course.
