Add a midi part to existing score
Hi, I'm working on arranging a song and I've produced a score with lyrics, chord symbols and trombone & clarinet parts. Now I want to add a bass part. I've used Mixcraft to produce a midi file of the bass part, but is there a way to add that into the existing score? If I import the midi file, MuseScore creates a new score and I can't find a way to copy a stave from one score to another.

Add that instrument to the score, then copy/paste the note from the midi import

Hi, thanks for the quick reply; I have been trying that but it doesn't look like it's possible to copy notes from one score to another - unless I'm doing something wrong; I select all the notes in the stave (using select similar), press ctrl+C to copy the notes, switch to the other score, select a rest in the empty stave I've created for the part then select Paste - nothing happens.

Hi, I think I must be missing something here. Here's my step-by-step:
1 Load both scores into MuseScore.
2 Create a new stave for the new part, make sure it's the same instrument as the source stave.
3 Right click a note in the source, choose Select/All similar elements in same stave
4 Press Ctrl+C to copy the notes.
5 Select the target score tab.
6 Select the first rest in the target stave.
7 Press Ctrl+V to paste the notes. Nothing happens.
I've tried switching to Note entry mode before the paste and I've also tried copying notes from the Piano roll editor; can't get it to work. I'm running 3.0.5.5992 BTW.

Wrong at step 3, don't create a list selection, but a range selection, click first note/rest, shift+click last note/rest

Thanks! That's worked!
Pro tip: make sure the midi file you are importing starts on the first beat and includes time signature information.
