All My scores/Files are gone

• May 11, 2019 - 22:28

I went into Musescore starter page to work on a piece of music i'd put aside for a time. when opened, ALL of the scores i'd ever done were gone! the only thing there is a Palestrina piece i downloaded a couple months ago. i was just on musescore two days ago and everything was there. however i've had issues with my computer and a new keyboard lately. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Upgrading would have been a reason for apparently losing your scores, not a solution though it won't make a difference now.

We need to figure out where your scores went. Open your file manager, or whatever it's called on your operating system and search for mscz files. On windows, you would navigate to the C: drive and type mscz in the search box at the top right of the directory listing. You can then right click a score you recognize and select Open location to figure out where your scores are. I'm not familiar with exactly how to do this on Linux or Mac.

The scores are almost certainly right you left them, in whatever folder you last saved or mvoed them to. The problem, I assume, is that when you tried to open them, for whatever reason MuseScore is looking in a different folder. You need to tell MuseScore to look in the correct folder. Do you know what folder you think they are in? What folder is MuseScore looking in?
