Reduce measure count to odd timing
When I'm transcribing music with long odd measures, I can Join Measures to make it look right. When I'm transcribing short odd measures, is there a way to make it reduce to just the notes and rests shown? Right now, I'm getting the count as low as possible and hiding rests that really shouldn't be there....

The first two measures have the measures split, then the repeat barline entered. The last measure can be made by entering what you want in the measure then selecting what left over and pressing ctrl+delete to remove them from the measure. BTW, you could actually do this in the first two measures also.

Wow, Mike! That is pure awesomeness! I was trying to right click, but it didn't work. See what magic you wizards make? Thanks! :)

Thanks, JM. I am pretty familiar with this part of the handbook, but I couldn't find anything addressing partial beats, my nemesis these days. Am I missing something?

I couldn't find anything addressing partial beats...
Your picture shows 3/4 time signature.
In measure properties, the 'Actual' denominator can be changed to 8.
So... make those measures actual 3/8. This will give 1½ beats in the short measures.
No need for the hidden rests.
Also, playback will no longer play those hidden rests.
Most especially for (repeating) dance music, an anacrusis (pickup) needs a complementary measure at the end. Otherwise dancers may stumble at any missing (or extra) beats.

Got it! Never thought about changing the denominator. Wow! Won't I be a whiz from now on! ;)
Thanks, Jm. This image is being transcribed for a book. I'm just reproducing what the author wrote. In general though, I know that the beginning bar and the end bar beats gotta match up. It might be music, but it's not considered well crafted music if they don't. Thanks again! Good ideas here ALL the time!
