Severe Audio Distortions During Playback

I am in the process of creating an arrangement, and playback has extreme performance issues throughout, seemingly at random. I'm not sure if my computer is having a hard time processing so many instruments playing at once or if it is the software that is having trouble, but this is the first time I've ever had this issue and I've worked with nearly identical instrumentation before.
