Cannot add instruments to an existing score

I was able to open it and add a harpsichord. The default is set to hide empty staves, so you have to check "show empty staves in first system" under Style/Score. You won't see it on subsequent systems unless there are notes present. You can always see it in continuous view.

Are you saying you don't know how? See Edit / Instruments. Or are you saying something goes wrong when you try? If so, please give us precise steps to reproduce the problem. Do note you'll need to turn off "Hide empty staves" or the instruments you add will be hidden since they are indeed empty :-)
