No playback

• Jun 7, 2019 - 19:39

I am using Musescore version 2.3.1 and I went to play a score and found that I am unable to. The area from "Toggle 'MIDI Input' from "Play metronome during playback" (the playback controls) is greyed out so it's unclickable. Additionally, the "Play Panel" under the "View" menu does not open. I have tried to revert to factory settings and that didn't help either. What should I do to go about fixing this?

Thank you for sending me that information page, I couldn't find anything like that when I was looking around for help before posting. Following the steps on the page, I realized that "Synthesizer" is disabled. After that I tried reverting to factory settings again and it still didn't help. The next part talks about the I/O Preferences under Edit. I haven't tried to input or output anything so that wasn't helpful either. At the bottom it talks about updating sound drivers, which I don't I know what that is. However, I believe I have 64-bit, and here's why. I got another comment about updating to Musescore 3. I already downloaded it before and didn't like it as much as Musescore 2, so I kept using 2. Now that I have this issue, I decided to open up 3 to see if the problem went away, and everything was playing normally (at least I believe so). So, unless there's a way to still fix 2, I'm going to stick with using 3. However, thank you for the help.

FWIW, I think once you get used to the amazing improvements in MuseScore 3 (especially if you have 3.1), you will never want to go back to 2 - MuseScore 3 is that much better. And if you have problems figuring anything out, feel free to start a new thread asking for help!
