Placed FingeringFix plug-in in the plug-in folder of Musescore 3.

When trying to load the plug-in into the program nothing happens. You tick the plug-in and it just does not appear. I have tried restarting the program and also reloading the plug-ins, but neither has any effect. It just will not stick!

I am not sure why, but instead of loading the ticked FingeringFix plug-in (correctly listed) the program seems to insist on loading the ABC Import plug-in (unticked) instead, despite making sure it was not highlighted.

I wonder if the plug-in was specifically written for Musescore 2, since it works there and correctly shows "Notes" and then the sub-menu of "Fix Fingering"? And if run, it works very well.

Is this an issue with MuseScore or with that plugin? Which plugin exactly are you talking about?
But indeed plugins from 2.x won't work in 3.x without at least some minor changes.

I think it is an issue with Musescore 3, as it works with Musescore 2, exactly as I implied by my report. As it is mentioned in the on-line handbook, I assumed it would work with the old or new versions of Musescore. The filename of the plug-in is "fixfingering.qml" and was downloaded from the link in the on-line manual.

Thanks for that. Version 2 does not work either.
Despite being ticked AND highlighted, the program still loads the ABC Import instead. It exhibits the precise same behaviour.
Loading the wrong plug-in would appear to be a bug in its own right? So it looks like a proper bug in Musescore 3.1 anyway.

What version 2? The file I attached above certainly loads properly in MuseScore 3 and shows in the menu after that. I don't know enough about finerings and what this plugin should be doing or did in 2.x.
