inter-staff distance

How can I expand my score vertically, to provide more white space between staff lines? Can't seem to find a means to do that in the documentation.

Yes. My score has only one Instrument staff, no multi-staff systems. I want to change the distance between staves. Subsequent to opening this forum, I note that changing the spinner value for staff distance appears to have no effect on-screen, but when the score is printed the revised staff distance is in effect

Ah ha; good to know. So referring to the diagram, Minimum Staff Distance and Maximum Staff Distance are really the factors in play in a single staff instrument score such as mine. And to increase the distance between single-staff systems in my score I need to use the Maximum Staff Distance spinner.

Thank you for responding.

Actually, it depends...

MuseScore will try to fit as many systems as possible onto a single page.
So, for a single staff instrument, each "staff-system" will be placed as close to each other as the 'Min. system distance' allows.

'Max. system distance' will allow a page with fewer systems to be spaced out (to the max. distance) so the page looks more filled. (Look at the second page of the attached score.)

Feel free to experiment with this attachment (open in MuseScore):

That's true...
We're sort of talking "staff-system" here - as for a score with a single staff instrument. So 'staff' and 'system' are somewhat interchangeable for the conversation; but definitely not for finding something like "Min. staff distance" or Max. staff distance" in menu item: Format -> Page.
Probably a typo, if you know what I mean... ;-)

Regards.

Ha!

I just realized there are 2 distinct people:
Peter Webb - who initially referred to "Staff Space" when he meant "Staff Distance" -- and maybe should have meant "System Distance" if he too, like the OP, has a score with a solitary, single staff instrument.
and
The OP, donaldarries - who refers to "Minimum Staff Distance and Maximum Staff Distance" when it should be "Minimum System Distance" and "Maximum System Distance".

(Time will tell if it's all sorted correctly. These forums are always open.)
