Inserting Half note/quarter note Triplets
Okay, so the score I'm working on is in 4/4 and there are several measures with triplets that consist of a half note and quarter note. Basically, like this: 
I'm not sure how to do so, because when I try to turn the first half note into a triplet, it automatically requires me to use more half notes, instead of allowing me to insert a quarter note. Has anyone figured this out? Thank you!

You triplet is basically 3 quarter notes (the first two are combined to make a half note). To make a triplet of quarter notes start with a half note or rest. Select it and press ctrl+3 to turn it into a triplet. If you are in note input mode you set the duration to a half note (press 6) then ctrl+3 to make the triplet, then continue entering notes as you normally do. In this case a half note followed by a quarter note.
