  1. Open Musescore 3.2.3.
  2. Load the synthesizer settings from another score that has synthesizer settings different from default.
  3. Create a new score.
  4. Save synthesizer settings, now carried over from previously opened score, onto new score. Note how the asterisk in the file name appears.
  5. Save score.
  6. Close and reopen Musescore and open the score. Synthesizer settings should be at default.
  7. Load synthesizer settings from score. Note how no changes happen whatsoever.

This also works if you replace step 3 with opening any score that has not had synth settings saved to it. Notably, loading a different set of synth settings and then loading from the affected score loads the default settings instead, suggesting that saving to score in this scenario saves the default settings rather than the current synth settings. Man, try to read that 10 times fast.

Edit: Forgot to mention that after this is done, pressing "Save to Score" on the affected score will only work if settings are manually tweaked, not loaded from another score.
