Deleting notes
I finished a vocal arrangement. In the last chorus there is a section written as unison. The artist wanted it changed to parts. The song is in 3/4, the first bar to change is a D chord and the note written on the treble clef is a dotted half note A above middle C. Needed to change this to an F# over D above Middle C. So I entered the D and the F# easily enough but could not delete the A. I tried everything listed in the manual, all the suggestions listed in the forums with no luck. I finally ended up deleting each measure and entering the notes, and then had to go back and re-enter the lyrics and the chord names. I'm working on a Macbook pro. I know there must be a simple solution to this, there always is, but I haven't been able to find it.

To delete 1 note, simply click on it and press Suppr or delete and it disseapears. You can also change a pitch, you select an note and use Up or Down arrow and it changes for 1/2 ton each time

Raymond, That seems like the right thing to do, but it didn't work for me. I must be doing something wrong.

I think you need a Macbook expert because it has some different key combinations. cmd+delete I believe is how a "normal" Mac user deletes a note, but I have a vague memory that a different key combination is necessary for a Macbook.
In order to understand and assist better, we would need you to attach your score.

Marc, I'll be glad to attach the score but it is complete. I was able to complete it by deleting bars and re-entering the notes. Let me know if you still want me to attach it. I just need to know how to delete the existing top note of a 3 note chord after entering the two bottom notes. Thanks for your quick response.

As explained, just click and press Delete. It should ways work. Not sure why it didn't there - maybe your Delete key got stuck? But if it ever happens again, just attach that score.

OK I discovered my error. It works just as you said. The existing note must be deleted first before entering the replacement notes. I was entering the D and F# below the A and then trying to delete the A. Hopefully this may help someone else. I'm learning as I go along and getting better at it. As always, I appreciate the quick response and the assistance.

? No, MuseScore is always in"overwrite" mode, you don't need to delete before entering other notes.
