3.3 Beta
One thing I've been waiting for is the new ability to change settings in staff/part properties after an instrument change. This is working great. I can't wait for the final 3.3 to be released and made the engine for musescore.com so I can post my latest project with this feature.

No need to wait, once changed in 3.3 it shows in 3.2 too (and on musescore.com).

Right, I totally forgot that was one of the big advantages of the approach I took. All the necessary support was already there (which is why hand-held editing the MSCX file works too) so it just needed a UI. Scores created this way should be backwards compatible all the way back to the original 3.0.

I didn't know about this; this is a great change (I'm sure I once complained about its absence -- oh yes, the transposition controls in the Staff Properties dialog). This should surely be plainly visible in the "new features" list of the release.
