Have a 2 measure-section play 6 times (repeat)
I want a section of 2 measures to play 6 times. I have added a "6x" sign so the print is OK. Now i want the playback to play 6 times.
Using the dotted double bar both at the entry and end of the section enables to repeat it twice. Fine.
To repeat it 6 times i studied tutorials and forum entries and here is what i did :
- I joined both measures,
- added a single bar to restore the bar,
- edited measure properties and set repeat count to 6.
BUT doing so, playback doesnt repeat these measures at all anymore, not even once as previously due to repeat bar. I send a screenshot of the settings (french UI... hope you know the dialogs)
What is it i'm doing wrong ? how can i ensure playback to play 6 times this 2 measures section ?

Here is how i managed to do it.
The issue was in the "repeat variation sign" as shown here https://musescore.org/fr/node/278580
I had to set its own "Repeat list" as "1,2,3,4,5,6" ("1-6" didnt work).
Hmmm so there are 2 places to setup to ensure correct repeated feedback : both measure properties and voltas properties ?

Repeat bars enable to play long sections twice.
Is joining measures the only way to play a section more than 2 times ?
I fear that joining a long set of measures section will be a problem.

Huh? No, increasing the play count of the measure containing the :| is the only way
The volta is not needed at all, a simple system text "6*" is sufficient (to tell the musicians)
No joining or manual barline addition is required.
The only setting to change is indeed the repeat count of the measure with the repeat end barline.
As you didn't include a score, it's hard to tell how you've added the 6x there. If you used a volta for it, then you need to adjust the repeatList for that volta as well. Or use a different type of text; such as a custom marker, which already aligns to the barline (I used a Fine to start from in my example, just make sure to change the label so it doesn't affect playback).
