My MacBook will not open MuseScore after download

Hi All--
I just downloaded MuseScore 3.3.2 onto my MacBook, and I get the following error message:
“MuseScore 3” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.
This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information

I deleted and redownloaded/installed it and the same thing happened again.

Any idea what is happening?

See https://musescore.org/en/faq#faq-296716, you currently need to open it by clicking it with right mouse button and selecting "Open", after that you should have an option to launch the application. This is only needed to be done once, MuseScore should run without issues on further launches.
