Barline not appearing until save.

I have a quintet piece.

Working on the score as i laid it out I tried to replace a double bar line with a repeat barline in front of a 3rd ending volta.

I dragged it - didn't change visually.
I tried again - same result.
I removed the double, tried again - didn't change.
I selected the bar and double clicked - didn't change.
I saved it in that condition so I could use it to accompany this issue - bar line changed appropriately.

So, no attachment.
