Changing Battery Percussion to Mallet Percussion

Hello,

I’m not sure if this question has been asked/answered, but if so, please direct me to the appropriate solution forum.

How can I change a percussion staff from a battery instrument to a mallet instrument? Specifically, this a percussion part for an orchestral piece and I want the change of instrument to be on the same staff.

Will the playback function properly as well?

Currently you can't literally change a single staff from unpitched to pitched, but you can have two staves, add notes to each of them as appropriate, then right-click and use Staff Properties to set them to always hide when empty.
