Palm mute, let ring and vibrato lines get extended to the end of current measure

Issue:
When a palm mute/let ring/guitar vibrato element is clicked in the palette to be applied to a single note (only notehead active, as in input mode), this results in the element line extending to the end of the current measure.

Workaround:
Select the note and the whole note/chord by Shift + UP/DOWN and apply the element only after that.

What is the expected behaviour without the workaround:
When a single note is selected (only the notehead is blue) and one of the aforementioned elements is applied with a click in the palette, the element should be applied only to the current note/chord and the line element should not be extended to the end of the bar; at most, it should be extended to the end of the current note/chord.
