Problem opening program on latest version MacBook Air

I'm trying to open Musescore 3 on my MacBook Air running iOS10.15.4 and I'm getting this message: “MuseScore 3” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. Talk to the system developers." Also, I followed the instructions on the MuseCore site. I didn't get a security alert but when I went into Privacy in my System Preferences and clicked on Files and Folders, Musescore didn't show up in the list of apps I could authorize.
Help, what should I try now. Is this something the developers need to work on?
