Pedal Marking Thickness
I use the lined pedal markers a lot in my music, and they've worked fine (though it could be more efficient to enter them). Recently, however, they default to a thickness of .28, as opposed to .15. The style menu still shows the default as .15, but the lines are obviously thicker and labeled as .28 inn the inspector. Also, only pedal markers entered over multiple beats are thick. When I select just one note an enter the pedal, it appears as normal (.15). Forgive me if this was vague!

I'm guessing you've changed the staff size in your score. See #303271: Elements in inspector no longer have default sp values when applied to score, if staff space is not the default. Apparently it's a temporary glitch that fixes itself on reset.

I'm having trouble with the reset part, sorry! I selected the whole score, then went to format->stretch->reset layout stretch. That didn't do anything, but I'm not sure if that's the reset you're talking about in the first place.

It's not. As mentioned in the issue I linked, it's the "reset" button in the Inspector. You need to need to select just the pedal lines (eg, right-click one, Select / All Similar Elements) then click the reset button next to the thickness setting. Probably Ctrl+R would accomplish the same.
